Eyestrain Headaches

You guessed it, the clue is in the title to this one. The causes of Eyestrain Headaches come when you eyes are forced to closely concentrate on something for prolonged periods of time. This can not only cause damage to your eyes but can provide what is a nasty headache.

The Hangover Headache

This can seem like a horrible migraine from the moment you wake up after a night on the town. The culprit is alcohol dehydrating your body and brain. This varies by person and sometimes even the smallest amount can leave you with a throbbing head the following day.

Cluster Headaches

A re-occurring headache that feels like a pain behind your eyes or often behind just one eye. This can impair your vision and cause your eyes to water uncontrollably. These Cluster Headaches can come and go with several episodes during a day then none for weeks only for them to come back again. The main reason for this is drinking too much alcohol and heavy smoking along with the use of drugs, both prescription and non-prescription such as steroids.

Tension Headaches

Tensions Headaches are the most commonly experienced of all of the types of headaches. They can range from a minor pain in the head to a constant throbbing each side of the head as well as the neck and can be accompanied by feeling of sickness. A Tension Headache can be brought on by many things such as stress, anxiety, emotional trauma, frustration and anger. Other factors are exposure to loud noises or bright lights, oral pains can also lead to a Tension Headache.

Allergy Headaches

It is true that smoking and drinking a lot of tea and coffee are things that so many of us are guilty of. Some of us may not even consider the amount of Caffeine and Nicotine that they take in as dangerous and assume that headaches are caused by something else. The intake of Caffeine and Nicotine can often be what causes headaches. This is due to the effect that these stimulants have on blood vessels, making them constrict and bring about a dull and pounding pain.

Sinus Headaches

Anybody that suffers to any degree from sinus problems will definitely have experienced Sinus Headaches. The inflammation of your sinuses from infection will cause an intense pain around your nose which can start off as mild but throughout the day can steadily worsen. This can also happen after you have had a cold or flu as the inside of your nose will be swollen from sneezing and constant blowing of the nose.

Hypertension Headaches

Some of us can be unfortunate to start the day with Hypertension Headaches which are a dull throbbing that feels like it goes all the way round your skull like a band. This is caused by a rise in blood pressure.

Menstrual Headaches

This one is a bit of a self explanatory type of headache and can be quite severe almost up to Migraine standard. Menstrual Headaches can come about any time on or around the menstruation period as well as during menopause. The cause is a change in the body's estrogen levels along with foods high in salt which can increase the paid significantly.

Exertion Headaches

If you suffer from headaches during or after physical exertion such as exercise, to any degree, this is what is known as Exertion Headaches. This is your body's reaction to the exercise because there is something wrong with you or that you had a Cluster Headache or Hypertension Headache previously that you have aggravated by exerting yourself.

Sexual Headaches

You guessed it, a headache that is brought on due to having sex. This is down to high blood pressure and a much increased heart rate as well as stress due to being nervous or anxious because of the occasion. This can also have an effect on your breathing.

Vascular Headaches

Vascular Headaches are chemically induced. The pain you will feel is a real pounding because the blood vessels inside your head have become swollen. What you can feel at the same time is burning around the neck and shoulder areas. Chemicals called Nitrites which are found in certain foods such as various meats and also chemicals used as a taste enhancer in foods called Monosodium Glutamate. If taken in on an empty stomach these chemicals will react faster.

Glaucoma Headaches

Glaucoma Headaches can be quite serious and other than the head pain you will find that your vision is hampered whilst you feel significant pressure around the eye sockets. The cause of Glaucoma Headaches is the build up of fluid pressure inside your eyes and requires immediate medical attention.
